We went to see a really good running film. The Why

I was lucky enough to be able to attend the film  The Why by Billy Yang.  It is the kind of film that makes you want to get to your computer and go to ultra-sign ups and pick a couple races and sign up. One of those films that really stays with you because it is a really good story. Billy was really nice sharing lots of stories with us and he seemed very approachable.
Yes we had to ask for a picture.

Mayen Night runs

A little weekend adventure.
-
We decided it would fun to drive to Arizona and do the night time Mayem run. It was about 16 miles but four of us got in my       mini-van and drove 6 hours to run in the desert in a full moon. The experience made me feel adventurous. We barely had time to stop so we grabbed a quick sandwich and made it an hour early.
I love running in new places. I really like running in sand and  I have no idea why. You could see the cactus flowers in the dark because the moon was so bright.
Its great that there are other crazy friends that are willing to drive 6 hours with me to go experience something new.

Monday run FUN

My friend Phillip ran with me today. We ran from my house to Carlsbad. Its about 17 miles and we left early enough that we beat the heat. Phillip lead the way because he knew the best way to get there and stay on side walks and be safe. On our way we met a man who is visiting here from Canada. Nicest guy
We shared about 5 miles with him and made a friend.

The run was so easy and finishing at the beach made it a bit better.

The Holiday half race recap

I signed up for the Holiday Half in San Diego last week of December. I had heard from a-lot of people that this is a great race because its mostly down hill and the weather is perfect too.

I have to say it was awesome to just be there because all around  runners where dressed in red and green and the Christmas spirit was everywhere..

This is what happened .. I met my friend Robert at the race . He kept telling me that he thought I could run way faster than I usually do. I didn't believe him but he told me to just try. All I had to do was try and keep up with him and how hard could that be. He believed in me when I honestly did not. I ran about 60 miles that week my plan was to go and run my usual 2 hour half marathon. I think that is a great time and its what I always do but Robert convinced me to push myself so I did.

We ended up running a 1:44... I know right !!! Lets just say I never really thought I could run that fast . It never crossed my mind to see what I could do.
Moral of the story.. We can do much more than we think we can. In my case I am so grateful that I surround myself with people who believe in me. A Big Thank you to my friend Robert for pushing me to try and now next time I run a half I will have to try my butt off to see if I can beat 1:44.... It was an awesome day.

Saturday Morning Miles

I woke up at around 5 am and hit the tapped the snooze button on my phone. Then I laid in bed and thought about how fun it would be to see my friends. So at 5:14 I finally rolled out of bed into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. That is what I do to let my body know I am getting up this is real. Then after that got dressed and went down stairs and was out the door by 6:15 this way I could be on time. (New Years resolution) be early. The weather today was perfect here in San Diego. The plan was to run Black Mountain for about 16 miles but unfortunatly we ended up getting lost and going a bit shorter than planned.

Personally I didn't care because I know we will figure it out and I feel so grateful to be there with so many fun humans just running.

The morning did not go as planned but we got lots of climbing in and a whole morning with friends . What could be better ??

Happy New Year

Happy New year !!
Can you honestly belive it is 2018. It’s hard for me to understand how fast time is flying by. This year I will have a 24 year old 17 and 15 and 5 year old .. Does that sound crazy because it does to  me. We had a great Christmas it felt way different than other holidays because my 2 middle kids where in Maine and that just left 3 of us at home. Jack and I did some hiking as you can tell in this picture and the weather was weirdly warm here in San Diego.

I was able to get two races in before Christmas which I will post about next. Happy New Years and I am so happy to be alive.
