Bella makes Art

My girlfriend just turned 40. That's a big deal . Happy Birthday Jenn . I asked Bella what she wanted to give Jenny for her birthday and she said mama I would like to make her a painting. I love that she calls me mama but what I love the most about my daughter is how much she loves to make art . Its so fun to watch how fast she does it. I think its because she is not afraid to mess up. She knows she is a wonderful artist and it shows. I hope I am always feed her love for art. My friend Jenny has two cats so Bella painted two cats for her.

This is a proud mom showing off her daughters art. Have a wonderful day..

Summer Girl

I took the Summer Girls Class. It was super affordable and I really like how easy it was to fallow. I used to buy online classes and not actually do them but now I try to learn as much as I can from them.

My sister Angelica asked me to do a similar one like this one of her..I am excited to get started. I like how she turned out. She looks happy and whimsical. I like drawing making my girls look older right now. I felt like I was making a paper doll since I got to cut her out and paste her. I think maybe next time I will paste her on to a canvas instead of another piece of paper. Make and learn.

To live in color

I was hanging out with my kids and we decided to paint. I wanted to paint with lots of color .. I wanted to paint a girl. I really need to find a way to make time in the day when I am feeling it to paint and create. Having to work gets in my creative way man.
My girl is crooked I know but she is bright and happy.. Sometimes you have to do things that just make you happy for no reason. When I buy a house I am going to color all the walls bright different colors. I want it to be bright and happy.. I have it I am this Indian color warrior and I usually walk with my head slanted so it all makes sense now..
Today I went to Target to buy a dress for my sister in laws get together and I decided I do not like black.. I just feel like I am going to a funeral or something. I like living in color .. Whats your favorite color ? mine is bright Orange. I just love Orange..

SeaSide Soiree

This past weekend was so much fun. I was able to attend a Sea side Soiree and Art retreat put on by Elena Lai. She runs a non profit called Charity Wings to learn more about Elena and her work go here.. The project you see above was created by Jennifer Priest . She has been my friend for several years and she is such a  talented artist..

One of the reasons I was so excited about attending this retreat was this wonderful artist, who I now call my friend, was teaching.
Her name is Danita Arts  http://danitaart.blogspot.com

This very sweet soul was teaching us about painting. She created a wonderful piece of art in about 20 minutes and we were all in heaven watching her create it. I really enjoyed how much information she gave us and how she took the time to explain the process. The theme of the Sea Side Soiree was mermaids.    All of us painted little Danita's girls with beautiful fish tails. I recommend this event for a 2 reasons. The first one it's affordable. The 2nd is everyone was very kind and the group had a creative buzz to it.

I love when to watch an artist create a piece in front of me. I feel as though I really get to see their creative process. Danita was  present and very patient with all of her on lookers.
This was my creative space. Notice my McDonald's ice coffee.

The creative space that Elena provided for us, over looking the beach in La Jolla California, was magical..

This was the mermaid I created with Danita's help.

This project was lead by Jen Cushman

I also made an Ice Resin medallion.. There were lots of little things made for us by other students.  I made so many new friends and had a great time catching up with old ones.  I really had a great time at this event.  This led me to think how great it would be to paint and run at the same time... Man I would be a happy camper.. Have a great tuesday..

Sawtooth Hangers

I finally got around to figuring out how I was going to hang my beautiful paintings I have bought over time. Here they are in the above picture..So what I did is I went to Michael's and bought sawtooth hangers.

Sawtooth hangers...What are those ??

A saw tooth hanger is nailed to the back of frame at top center, or in this case just measure the picture and place the sawtooth hanger right in the middle..Then get your glue gun and glue the saw tooth hanger right in the middle.

This is what it will look like?

Ta da...Now you are ready to hang your pictures..

so instead of having those beautiful pictures put away somewhere there on the wall...
picture on the right right is by Mindy.

I love looking at my beautiful art work that was made by my friends...
This one is by Karen.http://www.tessandore.com/my_weblog/
It took me forever to do this and I am really glad I did..I hope this helps you..

Painting...when we can

I guess if you really want to do something you make time for it, right? Everyday when my sister takes a nap or at the end of our day together, I am making it a habit to break out my little basket and get my creating time in.. It makes me happy and it relaxes me to just paint... I feel so lucky that my friend is able to join me a couple times a week to paint.  We take over Carmen's room and we make stuff.  If you have been following my blog you know my sister can't speak but, I can tell she loves to watch us paint... She just smiles for miles... She loves having visitors and in her room. I think she digs all the chatter...

Jenny made these two radio girls don't they look great? So groovy...

These are my girlfriends... I am not done. Tonight I will be adding all my words of wisdom... I love painting all different types of girls... I love my friends and all the connections I have made... I love what I have learned from my them... Look for these and more at our NEW Etsy shop later tonight...

Have a great day.
